
Born in Lancashire, Daniel Howard won a major scholarship to The Royal Academy of Music where he studued with Joy Mammen from 1992 until 1996, during which time he gained a first class honors degree and numerous prizes, including The Sir Arthur Bliss Prize, The Henry Eyres Prize and a Harold Hyam Wingate Scholarship. On leaving the Royal Academy he made his debut with English Touring Opera as Belcore in L’Elisir D’Amore.
For the last 17 years Daniel has been a principle baritone soloist for many companies and festivals across UK as well as France, Germany, Switzerland, Latvia, Italy, Slovenia and Russia. Daniel’s wide operatic repertoire includes Guglielmo (Cosi fan Tutte), Masetto (Don Giovanni) and Papageno (Zauberflote) for Diva Opera, Ali (L’Italiana in Algeri) and Marchese (La Traviata) for Les Festivale Azuriales (Nice) and Diva Opera, Il Dottore (La Traviata) for Opera Cork and Sylvester in the European Premier of The Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters by Ned Rorem. He has also performed the role of Tarquinius in The Rape of Lucretia by Britten at the Latvian State Opera and the Hermitage Theatre, St Petersburg. Recently Daniel performed the role of Albert Frank (Die Fledermaus) at the Royal Albert Hall in a gala performance with Dame Kiri te Kanawa and Jose Carreras.
In addition to his operatic experience Daniel has performed most of the standard repertoire in Oratorio in the UK and Germany. He has also sung as a soloist in radio broadcasts for the BBC and Classic FM.
In 2011 Daniel Howard created the East Lancashire Singing Studio teaching singing to children and adults also providing repertoire coaching for young professional singers. Daniel is very experienced at teaching students of all levels, from beginner through to diploma. His pupils have achieved excellent results in ABRSM classical and London College Music Theatre exams and Daniel is experienced at teaching both aural and sight reading. Daniel teaches different styles of music and is happy to work on classical, opera and Musical Theatre repertoire now featured in many exam lists. Daniel has expanded his work to include adjudicating at Music Festivals and giving masterclasses where he enjoys helping performers to achieve their potential. As an accompanist and vocal coach, Daniel has worked with many singers including international soprano Emma Bell, with whom he won the Robert Sutcliffe Memorial Competition, Adrian Powter, Nicola Howard and Catriona Clark.
